Project Austin was founded in 2023 by Megan Slattery, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP BD+C.
Megan has extensive experience in commercial design and sustainable building design fields. Having started her commercial architecture and sustainability practice, OLA, in 2011 she has over 12 years of experience as a business owner and over 20 years in the field of architecture.
While managing her commercial firm, she built an ADU in the backyard of her east Austin home in 2019, following a renovation at the Brazos Lofts converting a residential unit to office space for her growing architecture practice. Through this process she found a stark difference between commercial construction and residential construction practices. In 2023, looking to start in a new direction she found that she loved residential design, specifically small footprint homes, but felt there had to be a better way to manage the residential construction process.
With this in mind, Project Austin was founded. Bringing more information and accountability into the drawings sets is the first step in this process, which is usually cost prohibitive for small homes (and small budgets).
Project Austin is partnering with Fort Structures for structural design. More details to come regarding how the process will be different.
